Wat Chayamangkalaram

Wat Chayamangkalaram is a Thai Buddhist temple known for its impressive 33-metre gold-plated reclining Buddha, a symbolic representation of Gautama Buddha in his final days, and a common motif in Buddhist art. The temple was established in 1845 when Queen Victoria granted the land to the local Siamese and Burmese communities who settled in the area in the 1800s.

Visitors can admire the architectural influences of Old Siam, Burma and China, as well as intricate murals, century-old urns, and an extensive collection of Buddha statues from around the world. The Temple offers a rich cultural and historical experience, reflecting the heritage and artistic contributions of the Siamese and Burmese communities in Penang.
